Happy Mother’s Day

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8

Jamie and I are blessed to each have a mother who demonstrated this kind of love.  We were both raised by a mother who unconditionally loved us, supported our dreams and ambitions, and dedicated their lives to making sure we had the tools we needed to achieve greatness. We couldn’t ask for better cheerleaders, greater protectors or wiser women to look up to.  So much of who we are today is because of the talent, heart, character, sacrifices, encouragement and the steadfast love each of these ladies raised us with.

Today on Mother’s Day, I just want to stop for a minute and say thank you to these two women.

We wanted our wedding to be warm, welcoming and inclusive to our closest friends and family. We wanted our wedding to remind our guests why they fell in love with their spouse, and even encourage them to fall deeper in love. We hoped our wedding day could be a celebration of love and the unity that God designed with marriage.

These next several posts will give you the story behind our wedding and how we set out to accomplish the goals we had for our wedding.

Our Wedding Story part 2: Gifts

Steve has always been an incredible gift-giver. He’s the type of person who hears potential gift ideas in conversation and then stores them away for the right opportunity to give the perfect gift.

Even before he and I ever met in person, he had flowers delivered to my desk in New York City. And all throughout our dating relationship and engagement, he always had the most special gifts for me. I knew that he would definitely be going big on our wedding day, and boy was I right.

I’ll always remember seeing the stack of Kraft paper boxes tied up with grey ribbon that he put together for me.
