“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8
Jamie and I are blessed to each have a mother who demonstrated this kind of love. We were both raised by a mother who unconditionally loved us, supported our dreams and ambitions, and dedicated their lives to making sure we had the tools we needed to achieve greatness. We couldn’t ask for better cheerleaders, greater protectors or wiser women to look up to. So much of who we are today is because of the talent, heart, character, sacrifices, encouragement and the steadfast love each of these ladies raised us with.
Today on Mother’s Day, I just want to stop for a minute and say thank you to these two women.
Mom- Ever since I was a child, you have always instilled within me the confidence I needed to realize I could accomplish anything I put my mind to. You created opportunities for me to be creative, taught me the skills that you knew, and made it possible for me to dream big. What’s more, you taught me above all else to love God and to love people. I’ll likely never know all of the sacrifices you made for me, or how hard you worked to make everything happen, but I want you to know how eternally thankful I am. No one has ever impacted my life more than you have. You are the strongest woman I know, and I love you so much!
Gail- You raised Jamie to be a beautiful, thoughtful, generous, compassionate, sensitive, selfless, peaceful, creative, curious and silly young lady. The more I am around you, the more I realize that Jamie is just like you! You really do possess all of those same qualities and characteristics. One could say it is genetics, but I believe Jamie is the incredible person that she is because of the great example that you have always been for her. I’m so lucky to have you as a mother in law, and so grateful for all that you do for us, and the entire family. You are an amazing woman.
To our moms, and to all the moms out there who read this blog, happy Mother’s Day! I truly hope this is a blessed day for you.
