The first time I saw the Chihuly Glass Garden I knew exactly how I would design an event in that space. When Hanna and Bret chose this space for their rehearsal dinner, I knew this would be my opportunity to bring my vision to life. The glass poppies that hang in the space have always inspired me, and I just wanted to mimic those pieces of art and bring them to life by creating centerpieces with fresh poppies to flank the length of long king’s tables. We also created the look of the glass with the hand painted details of the calligraphed stationery. More than 10,000 fresh poppies were farm grown specifically for this event, and I used every single stem and wished I had a few more. The design was simple, minimal and clean which allowed the Chihuly glass instalation to remain the showcase of the evening.
It was a beautiful way to spend the evening before the wedding. After the guests finished dinner and toasting, everyone went to the top of the Space Needle to watch the Fourth of July Fireworks. It was truly an evening to remember.
